This collection depicts people, places, things, and events in Anna, Jonesboro, and other Union County, IL locations. Many of these photographs were used in the book, History of Union County (3 vols.) by George Parks. The collections includes photos of an 1898 Cobden baseball team; a 1911 Anna Women's Club Garden Party; the 1895 Egyptian Cornet Band of Cobden; churches, cemeteries, memorials and markers; businesses, buildings, schools, and homes; farming scenes; scenery and wildlife; aerial views of Anna and Jonesboro; Bald Knob; and Frank Willard's "Moon Mullens" drawings.

Frank Henry Willard (1893-1958) was an American cartoonist and creator of the newspaper comic strip Moon Mullins . Frank Willard was born in Anna, Illinois. Something of a hot-head, he was expelled from school as a youth and during his time in the army was reduced in rank three times from sergeant to private. He started his artistic career in 1914, working freelance for several Chicago newspapers, and in 1916 was hired by the Chicago Herald to work on the Sunday strip To...
